In April 1927 Florence Henri came to the Bauhaus in Dessau. Lucia Moholy und László Moholy-Nagy inspired her to start taking photographs. After returning to Paris Henri decided to take up photography as a profession and ceased painting pictures.

Gertrud Arndt originally went to the Bauhaus to study architecture. It was only when she arrived there that she discovered that it did not yet have a department of architecture. In the weavery she worked actively and effectively; besides she produced a number of interesting photographs.

The sublime ship motif in the Kornhaus

The maritime quality of the Kornhaus, built in Dessau in 1930 by the architect Carl Fieger, only becomes clear to the viewer at second glance: the stretched length of the architectural body, and the originally light colour of its façade, initially suggest the shape of a ship only distantly.

Otti Berger – Croatian Artist from the Bauhaus Textile Workshop

Otti Berger was a very talented textile designer. After her studies at the Bauhaus she temporarily managed the Bauhaus weavery. With her own textile studio she had several companies produce her innovative designs and patented textiles. Her life ended tagically in Auschwitz.
