In 1926, Consemüller was commissioned by Gropius to document in photographs the products and endeavours of the Bauhaus. This meant that he followed in the footsteps of Lucia Moholy, who initially worked alongside him. With these pictures – a mixture of object and portrait photography – Consemüller illustrated the products of three different workshops. They depict a female Bauhaus member, probably Lis Beyer or Ise Gropius, in her living environment: Sitting relaxed in a B 3 tubular steel chair by Marcel Breuer, she wears one of Schlemmer’s stage masks over her face as if it were the most natural thing to do. The fabric of her dress was woven in the textile workshop according to a design by Lis Beyer.
